Back pain: symptoms, therapy, prevention

Most people have had back pain at least once. The pain usually occurs in the lower back. The causes can be both the consequences of the most common cold, and a serious injury.

Back pain can be constant or intermittent and acute or chronic. It depends on various circumstances. Common reasons for its occurrence:

  • disc rupture;
  • menstrual cramps;
  • osteoporosis;
  • kidney stones;
  • broken posture;
  • Spinal injury;
  • osteoarthritis;
  • appendicitis;
  • tumor;
  • bodybuilding.

The pain differs depending on the disease. For example, when a disc is affected, sudden or gradually increasing pain occurs. It starts in the back and spreads to the buttocks and legs. A person needs rest, because movement, sneezing, coughing only increase the pain. A disease such as appendicitis causes severe back pain. If it does not subside, see a doctor immediately! The symptoms of endometriosis are pain and spasms in the lower back. Usually, before or during the menstrual cycle, the pain intensifies. When the lower back is stretched, sharp pain occurs, with sideways movements, muscle spasms occur. Rest can make you feel better.

It is enough for an experienced doctor to examine the spine and listen to the patient's complaints to diagnose the disease. But there are situations where these actions alone are not enough. In these cases, special diagnostic methods are used - X-rays, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.

Treatment

After the diagnosis is made, the following therapeutic measures are carried out:

  • manual therapy;
  • injections;
  • physiotherapy;
  • acupuncture;
  • surgical treatment;
  • pharmacotherapy;
  • medical gymnastics;
  • massage.

Helps with back pain and folk remedies:

  1. Grate horseradish and mix with sour cream. Place the resulting mass on the lower back, cover it with a towel and tie a woolen scarf or scarf on top.
  2. Use St. John's wort, thyme, black elderberry and chamomile. A warm compress of these herbs with a wrap will warm your back well if it has been cold. The procedure is best done at night.
  3. Burdock leaves have a healing effect. Dry them first, then pour boiling water over them and apply to the sore spot for an hour.
  4. Horse chestnut is widely used. Carefully grind the dried flowers into powder, take melted lard and camphor oil, mix the ingredients in equal proportions. Spread the mixture on a piece of dark bread and apply to the sore spot.
  5. Use garlic infusion compresses. It is mixed with lemon juice. Soak a cotton towel in this mixture and apply for twenty minutes on a sore spot.

Prevention

The best way to prevent back pain is a variety of physical exercises. It is also necessary to monitor the correct posture when walking and sitting. Weight lifting is contraindicated not only for women, but also for men.
